Growing up, my dad was a cameraman, so I spent a lot of my childhood hanging around film sets. It probably comes as no surprise that my first hair & makeup job was on a film — Harry Potter 5. I was 18, fresh out of beauty school and very ready to start my career.
I learnt a huge amount from that first job and I’ll always be grateful for the opportunity, although life took me down a slightly different path.
I travelled to Australia, where I worked for skincare brand ProActiv. This is where my obsession with products really began. I developed a huge love of skincare and learnt just how important good skin prep is — something that still plays a big part in how I approach makeup today.
Back in the UK, I spent several years working in hair salons in London before eventually realising how much I missed makeup. So, I quit my job, went freelance and started working across hair & makeup, which happily led me into weddings.
I then moved to Bristol, where I immediately felt at home, and created my company, Lips & Locks.
At the time, I kept seeing the same thing everywhere — heavy makeup, elaborate hairstyles and a very traditional idea of what bridal beauty should look like. I remember thinking, who would I go to if I got married?
That question really shaped the way I wanted to work.
I wanted to create hair & makeup that felt modern, effortless and like an elevated version of yourself. Makeup that still looks like skin. Hair that feels cool rather than overly done. And a bridal look that works with your style, rather than changing it completely.
Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to work alongside some incredibly talented artists and build a business around that same idea. Today, I’m based in Devon and specialise in effortless bridal hair & makeup for modern, fashion-forward brides — particularly those who want something a little less traditional.
